Following some poetic vandalism in a previous post, I was inspired to pen this, and would welcome any more takes on modern nautical prose:
Crews
Quinquireme of Nineveh from distant Ophir
Rowing home to haven from sunny Palestine
With a cargo of ivory,
And apes and peacocks,
Sandalwood, cedarwood, and sweet white wine.
Slightly scruffy cutter with a ten-foot bowsprit,
slamming up the Orwell in a Force 9 Gale,
With a mad-eyed skipper,
and his ever-faithful lady wife
throwing up her breakfast from the leeward rail.
Gleaming, shiny white boat, slicing through the Solent,
setting course for Gosport, 'ere the sunlight fades
With a crew of twenty-somethings,
in spotless Mustos,
razor sharp hairstyles and wraparound shades.
