Sorry another binocular thread

Although useful, I wouldn't regard field of view as critical for marine binoculars, but it can be important when viewing wildlife..

From the brightness POV, AIUI that is correct but it is sometimes overlooked that the larger exit pupil size makes positioning the bins less critical in terms of vignetting and that was an issue with the Steiner 7x35's I used to own.

Yup. Helps if you don't wear glasses and do use the eye cups. Although very high quality, the Steiner 7x30s (not 7x35s, or at least not the Navigators) seem to be among the most sensitive to this. Maybe that extra 5 mm makes the difference.

The Searanger II's won a bunch of Best Buy awards a few years ago, although that was probably before the Searanger III's were available.

Everybody I've shared my Searanger II's with has been happy or impressed with them - one lady boat-owner so much so that she phoned home at the next port and instructed her husband to buy identical. I think the II's may have been originally been discontinued after the launch of the III's, but were so popular that they started making them again. At least, I believe said husband did have difficultly in obtaining a pair.
