That's the one....actually pronounced caw..bait or corbait and if your a real Guern you roll the rrrs slightly!

You get more leaway either side of half tide on a neap but on the spring tide it is safer to stick to half tide. Usually when the swinge is rough the race is flatter and vica versa however best to watch how close you are to the brim tides just before and after low tide when coming through the race..

The Brimtides are a shallow reef area to the north east of Alderney avoid them at any state of tide if you are unsure of the area. I can give you co-ordinates if you like but will have to check with my GPS waypoint directory.

Next time you come over we'll go through it on a chart if you like. Especially as Chris has a dodgy memory went it comes to navigating local waters!
