Hi. I'm selling my little 23ft river cabin cruiser, I have to give it up, recession is biting me hard and something has to give. I paid £4,500 for it a year ago so we're at the bottom of the marketplace. My own moral standards have dictated that I need to be honest about the leg drive which is on its last legs (scuse pun). Everything else is in good order and the 2.1 BMC started with one crank after being left since last October.

Question is, what would you consider a reasonable reduction in price having declared the drive leg US? I don't expect to get what I paid, nor shall I advertise it at the purchase price paid.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Re: Somme advice

Well, the place had a bad reputation about 98 years ago but things have improved since then.

Re: Selling your boat.

Have you tried searching for other similar examples for sale to see what the asking prices are and whether they are selling or sitting on the market for months/year? That has to be the starting point regarding a realistic asking price minus the cost of repair/replacement of the drive leg minus the cost/hassle for the new owner of getting the work done.

Yeah, I didn't notice the dodgy double 'm'. It's a broken key on the keyboard, can't edit the title though. Thanks for the tip

Easy answer. If the boat is £4500 worth, a lll you need to do is subtract the likely cost of repairs, thats the figure you're looking for.

That may be zero of course, but you did ask...

Sorry to hear your sad news. advice: get rid of it pronto, mooring/insurance/licence fees will very quickly deplete the current value of your boat. Ebay probably your best bet.

This is my thinking, cut losses and get shot. Currently it's just a money pit. It's already listed
