Does anyone know what of anything happened this afternoon on the Roach?

going up the Roach against the falling tide someone ahead went aground and had to be dragged off by the safety boat so we followed and also went aground on a falling tide, ;. However, we managed to sail off.. :)...Obviously it was a good idea to retire so we headded back to the bar.

As we were aroaching Burnham the big yellow Sea King ASR flew across the river tiwards the Roach...Then the big ILB and the small ILB went screaming at full speed into the Roach, followed by the feds then the harbour master....
Anyone know what it was all about?

I overheard part of a conversation on Ch 16 about a dinghy with two boys in and someone on/in the mud. Don't know what happened but there's been nothing in the news so I suspect it either turned out well or proved a false alarm.

I am begining to think it coulld have been us!

As I said, two separate boats went agrund about half an hour apart. The first one was dragged off by one of the club ribs.. We managed to sail of ourselves. We both went aground near the same place. Both us us have whilte hulls so someone or a paser by could have mistaken us for each other Nd jumped to conclusions... However a quick look would have confirmed there were no boats on the bank as the tide went down.

a sad lesson but having fallen in the Roach (long story and very silly) as i was wearing a life jacket i just scrambled ashore onto the mudflats. one wonders whether it was drowning or the cold. if the former its another reminder that if we don't wear lifejackets we're at risk - even in home waters.
