Something else to look at in the Wallet

Down here in Hernia Bay we can now see four windfarms on a clear day - Kentish Flats, Thanet, Gunfleet, and the London Array. The latter is already taking up a seriously big chunk of horizon.
I used to like the view when the horizon is crisp and sharp. I'm thinking now that it's better when the viz is less than 5 miles, as then I can't see any windmills at all...

Told you so, but no one would listen.....

We did Jim, we did.

Have you seen the lights on them! Came out from Mersea at 4.30am on Easter Sunday and the Gunfleet Sands Wind Farm is like a set of Christmas Decorations across the horizon. Mind you it was still easy to pick up the 'normal' lights on buoys in the foreground.

Now i'm not going to get my text books out to prove the theory but I hate the bleedin' things. I think the negatives far far outweigh the marginal aid to power.
Still just political willy-waving. I hope they are able to come down as fast as they went up.

We were surprised how clearly the London Array was visible from the Wallet.

Noticed on my way south. At risk of being burnt at the stake I sort of quite like them. I did think that I now had an idea where Foulgers Gat is rather than just sailing to a GPS position to find a buoy. A sort of unnatural, natural feature to be used for navigation.

I really like the symmetry of all the turbines and get quite excited about the possibilities of navigating using all the transits they offer.

Guess I am a pussers grey fish head at heart!

Not really. It's in the future plans. There is a local action group trying to stop it who have written a long article in our local newspaper which arrived tonight. I am moved to read it because of your interest......

Nothing unusual in the objections - risk to us downwind, no escape if the Strood is covered, no remedy for waste, expensive. I promise I will read the article......

Never seen any major problem with Bradwell, Sizewell or any other Nuclear plant in the UK for that matter. The plants are well constructed, the industry appears well regulated and face it one block of concrete on the skyline is a lot less obtrusive than hundreds of sodding windmills everywhere you look. Yes, the construction has created a few jobs, but once that phase is finished the jobs will disappear quite rapidly.
