Someone \'borrowed\' my ladder

Just launched the boat last weekend, got her into the berth safe and secure, gathered all the odds and ends and headed home. When I got there I realised I had left the step ladder in the trailer park. Returned a few days later to find it had gone...If it can help someone then fine but to take it is another matter. This would never have happened a few years ago ....(rant over)

I understand 'This would never have happened a few years ago'
You had a Senior Moment.

When you've saved up for a replacement, we got a very sturdy folding ladder from Wickes last year.

Not so sure, I reckon ladders have been nicked in boatyards since Noah popped into B&Q to buy his first adze.

I have to agree, boatyard plus ladder equals gone, without a chain and lock.It has always been that way everywhere.A shame really as we are all sailing folk.

I always use a lock, but have seen others use very old and battered ladders which seems to work also, without locks.
But I wouldn't bet on it (hence the lock).

Didn't you know "Hunt The Ladder" is a traditional yachtsman's winter sport.
Last year I found a ladder with my boat's name on, which had gone missing a year before. The yard claimed that they had put it in their shed to stop it getting nicked.

I remember the shock of people in Grimes and Gutrot.. about 30 years ago.
When someones drying deck shoes were stolen from a boat while we were all in the pub.
People would often leave the boat with all hatches wide open while they went out.
Nobody nicked anything.

Happy days.....
