Some people just don't want to sell their 'for sale' boats. Grrr

I have three boats on my 'must view' short list and I am trying to book viewings to coincide with business travel plans/trips.

How hard can that be? Impossible it would seem.

I have a trip booked for next week and was hoping to view a boat at the same time . I have been trying to contact the seller for the last 3 weeks, I have sent numerous emails and made some calls to his mobile, not one reply or answer.

I have finally given up on him, his loss and hopefully my gain as this boat isn't my 1st choice.

This is a private sale with no broker involvement which begs the question:

'Why the hell do people list items for sale and then ignore enquiries?

Rant over .

An old friend of mine, sadly passed on, was told by his wife that he had to sell his old gentleman's motor yacht due to his age and the time he spent fettling it.

He put it on the market for GBP 20,000 when a conservative value was nearer GBP 8,000.

It remained on the market and never sold until he had died and the executor sold it at a sensible price.

He was able to spend all the time between the two events; preparing the vessel for selling (basically the aforementioned fettling) and moaning to his wife about the poor second hand market currently prevailing.

Crafty old sod.

One of the drawbacks of dealing with private vendors and why many use brokers. Busy people often don't have time or the nouse to deal with enquiries and arrange viewing - and then complain nobody wants to buy their boat!

No, John.

I am viewing her in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed. She's number 1 on my list and you can see why, I am sure. ;)

It can also depend on how far away you keep your boat. If you only have a 5 minute journey to show viewer round, you do not get that miffed if the guy does not show up.
However if your pride and joy is (2)50 miles way and its the third time for a no show.....!.
Suspect in that case you are better off with broker as the bills would soon mount up for fuel and time to get down there.
Rather think that using a broker can depend on how comfortable you are dealing with people and for some it is not pleasant and best left to someone else.
