Some idiot dreamers

Not really, wealth of knowledge on here, loads from cheery chaps as well as a few Victor Mildrews who will bang on about how they wire up some boxes on white plastic boats in the solent is the *only* way in the world and anyone else is an idiot for suggesting otherwise.

No great loss other than not having to go through a load of bad temper and snide remarks.

What if they wire it up in Greece and suggest that it's the only way and that everyone else is an idiot? I am not so sure that pidgin-holeing grumpy experts as only being from the Solent is fair. Grumpy people are everywhere these days.

If you have a GPS boats according to a steel evangelistic bloke.
You are an idiot and going to die.

Just relax and ignore those you think of as fools.

It seems to be a strange strategy to complain about insults on the forum by insulting the insulters.

I am not going to trawl through to see if I insulted LW _ _ _ .

I don't think I called him any names.

I don't think I am an idiot thinker.

If someone starts a fight, I will react (alas). Although I am trying to learn not to react. I was told as a youngster that if someone hit me, or bullied me, then I should hit them back 3x as hard and they won't get back up. In the real world, that has proved true.

My (unsolicited) advice to everyone - and at the risk of embarrassing him - be more Vyv Cox.

He knows what he's talking about, is generally fair and helpful and if he does get ever get arsey then you've probably deserved it.

I agree and said almost the same thing in August when (PVB the other agitator around here at the moment) alluded to me being an "ultra thick person".

"VivCox, much respected on this forum stated his opinion (similar to yours) but in a polite manner"

Post number 8 by Vyv in contentious thread:

A good sense of humour is an attribute if you're going to participate in any forums.

Who finds being called "ultra-thick" or an "idiot thinker" funny?

Why didn't you simply apologize and end it?

Don't reply. People have called you a negative poster in the past (I am not going back weeks to find the quote) so I will simply add you to ignore too.

Soon I will be able to converse with only nice people that do not throw insults; just a whittling down job.

Bit like life in general really.

I'm not sure what is wrong with you, but looking through your past posts it's apparent that you have fallen out with lots of people, and proudly and repeatedly announce that you've put someone else on your ignore list. You've even started a thread commenting on why you put someone on ignore. And yet you seem to have double standards, as just a few months ago you replied to someone with the comment...

Your post has taught me 2 things:

You are still rude.
You are not as intelligent as others that understood what I posted.

Many of us have been taking part in these forums for a lot longer than you have. We've found that they are a good way to discover things, to get ideas, to receive product recommendations, to offer advice, and occasionally to make some tongue-in-cheek remarks. But overwhelmingly, these forums are positive and helpful, and they are far gentler in tone than almost any other forums I can think of. You've labelled me an "agitator"; all I can say is that if you ever receive as many messages of thanks as I have, you'll have made a positive contribution. Now you've added me to your ignore list, like the host of other people whose views you disagree with. I see this as a benefit, because you won't be wasting bandwidth replying to me.

Oops .. I tried to remove the typo in my original post on my phone and. not for the first time, accidentally deleted it. Just in case anyone thinks I changed my mind ...

Could we add Halcyon to the "really know their stuff and nice" list?

So Vic for metal etc, halcyon for batteries ,, probably safe to ignore maybe 8 or 9 out of 10 posts when it gets well into the nitty gritty technical side of things, luckily there are a handful who are always worth paying attention to

Really knowing your stuff seems to come with not posting like a grumpy old git as well. :)

Provided it's not your product he's comparing to sawdust in a gearbox.

When I first joined Shell Research a man working in the next lab to ours was testing every one of the miracle additives that purported to improve the basic fuel or lubricant. This was a full time job and he had done it for years. He told me he had never found one that improved the Shell product in the way that the manufacturer claimed.

I have been to presentations of, for example, an additive that improved four-ball test results most impressively but this type of result was always at the expense of something else.

Don't know what pvb posted at #32, but this is for him.
Then go and haul your Bavaria out before she springs a leak (maybe at the prop shaft) and gets a little damp because you don't have (or believe in) automatic bilge pumps.

The Bavaria has a saildrive - only dust and fluff in the bilge! :D

It's reassuring to find evidence that the much derided 'Snowflake Generation' was not so much born in the 1990s but seems to be rather more 1950s vintage. Still I suppose we should bring back National Service to toughen you lot up a bit. ;)
