Some help with tide please!

I’d say that I’d rather trust my own working than rely entirely upon a Laptop App to decide my route and waypoints for me though, particularly across this stretch of water.QUOTE]

As a confirmed technophile, I'm the opposite of Tiller Girl however even I would never, ever, use software to decide my route and waypoints even if such a facility were available (actually, it is now with auto-routing on some of the Navionics apps)

In fact, on a wider note, it is a bad mindset to think of the software deciding anything.

I think I agree very much with that comment. I have in fact automated my tables but (apart from a quite big issue about file size) there is absolutely no way to ensure there is no bug in the formula. I am not suggesting that would apply to other solutions though. I think the point is that there is quite a lot of value in understanding what is happening at different points of the passage and that comes from passage planning.

Mind you those screen look pretty thorough.

I'm not sure what the difference is between getting the software to do it and getting my befuddled brain and fat fingers on the calculator to do it. Navionics autoroute is a bit if fun, not meant for serious use.

Thank you kind lady. Your advice was well received. Your tables sound a very helpful utility. I look forward to seeing an example..

:D He ain't no lady!

And his tables are indeed very helpful and readily available in that most excellent publication "Crossing the Thames Estuary" from the esteemed house of Imary, Laurie, Norie and Wilson which MR. Tiller Girl is both far too modest and far too cognisant of the rules hereabouts to promote himself

Ooops! I haven't been so embarrassed since that incident in Boogy Street, Singers. What a night that was. I'm impressed with Tiller Girls qualifications, and careful myself about promotional infringements. I just leave it to anybody's curiosity if they want to hit the website URL in my signature.

No offence taken. I hadn't noticed that the revision of the web site had wiped my signature reference to the web site. The Forum adjudicators permit that modest amount of advertising. Have a look at the 'How to' videos and they explain how the tables work. They look daunting but once 'into them' they become quite easy.

I've had a look at your website. It's very well presented and immensely informative. Well done! Mine is more like a cluttered old second hand book shop, (but it has its charm, I hope).
