Some good news for Greece for a change

Interestingly enough,Afghanistan seems to be the only country not featured. A bit strange as I would have thought that statistics would be available.

I remember that the food was really good when I was there ..admittedly a lonnnggg time ago.Which is why Ithought it strange strange that it is not featured on the chart.

You really don't understand what this site (and survey) is about or are you joking? Although the issue is not funny at all.

I was not trying to be funny,I merely pointed out that Afghanistan did not feature on the chart, which for a country of its size seemed strange.
As Mad Pad and I mentioned, the food there was very good in the past, perhaps it is not possible to obtain data nowadays.

The country is now in a shocking state, and is no laughing matter.

Ok, let's make myself clear. I posted because many members just reply to posts without opening the link of the OP. The site is about the ability of a country to feed its population. If its residents can afford to feed themselves, if the diversity (hydrocarbonates, proteins, vitamines, fat etc.) of the food someone can afford is sufficient to keep them healthy, if there is enough drinkable water etc. It's not about cuisine.
I didn't want to offend anyone, I just wanted to understand if the thread was drifting on purpose or there was a misunderstanding.

Glyka if I have offended you I apologise. My post was genuinely meant as a positive message about Greece during a time when much of what we hear is negative. It wasn't meant as a joke or a snipe at Greece, quite the opposite in fact.

Also,my post was meant as a genuine observation as to why Afghanistan seemed to be the only country missing from the site. I did in fact spend some time looking at the site and comparing the various countries, particularly their ability to feed their population.
I just mentioned as an aside ,as did Mad Pad, that many years ago Afghanistan was a country which seemed to have enough food of a reasonable quality. It was not meant as a pop at the country or at Greece.
Possibly because of the ongoing war, it was not possible to obtain the information .

I don't think anyone read it as ranking in food availability versus affordability - we all jumped to the conclusion of eating out - which whilst reasonable I would not rank it all that high. BUT in terms of food quality that we buy in the shops - I would say it was probably ahead of the UK, especially meat - thats if you buy from Tesco in the UK:disgust:

I was not offended, and my posts had nothing to do with Greece. I was just shocked that there are countries where people have problems accessing food and we were talking about how tasty their cuisine is. Again, no offense taken, only trying to tell that we were interpreting that survey the wrong way.
Chilled and neither shaken nor stirred :)

Thank you Mr Bond. :)

Went to see my quack for a medical. He complained about my alcohol consumption. I replied I have to die of something. He then started on my diet. I replied I live on Greek style food even in the UK. End of conversation.

I had a very similar conversation with my surgeon after my surgery for colon cancer five years ago (in Greece). He told me that "you northern Europeans eat a very unhealthy diet, that's why you get cancers". I told him I'd been here for three years (then) and that we ate like the Greeks do. He went very quiet and then told me that "you must have had the cancer since before you came to Greece then". Priceless. But probably true... :)
