The Solent becomes a very small lake with a 4m draft and lots of boat speed.

In today's 'Telegraph' Robin KJ mentions a couple of instances where much additional 'extra curricular' effort is expended in beating off a close competitor. I like the one where the skipper commands his wife to strip off .... with considerable success.
