solventless epoxy

Epoxy coatings for hulls can be solvent-free, eg Hempel SFE, or solvent based, eg Gelshield 200.
The former are higher build, and perhaps not so easy for DIY application.
Epoxy resin, as in glue etc, is normally solvent-free.
Should add:- all types are 2-component.

Correct in all respects. It was in fact my original post that he was referring to so I would add that I am indeed using Hempels.
Gelshield is perfectly OK but if overcoating with Coppercoat (or anything else for that matter) a solvent based epoxy will be easier to use but you have to be sure that all the solvent is evaporated before overcoating to avoid it becoming trapped beneath the topcoat and causing problems later. There is also an argument that higher build epoxys like Hempels give better protection against osmosis but Gelshield is a good product, especially for those not experienced in application. Note that I say "experienced" rather than "professional" because there are some very experienced people that don't earn a living at some practical tasks and some very inexperienced labour sometimes employed by "professional" companies. Just because you pay alot for something does not mean it gets done well!
