Solo vs. Laser dinghy

Being completely feeble; I found my old Solo much harder to drag up the slipway than a Laser. Neither are boats that I would salivate over, but go for whatever gives the biggest local racing fleet.

I loved my laser and would have another tomorrow, but it would be an ancient thing as I wouldn't be doing nationals etc. I've always fancied a solo, they seem a "better/proper" boat but I have a soft spot for being different and don't mind handicap racing (infact I like the thought that nobody is quite sure) so if I buy another singlehanded dinghy it'll be a streaker if a cheap laser doesn't turn up.

At my lake based club there's a fleet of both Laser's and Solo's who regularly race together. Solo's are more technical and seem to have the more 'polished' sailors. They point higher and in light airs are usually faster, that posh sail!. In a blow the Laser takes over, as long as you stay upright!
I'm on my 2nd laser, second hand they are cheap as chips and plentiful. Can also get after market sails if just cruising or club racing for half the price of genuine Laser ones.

So I bought Laser in April with good set of sails and class legal XD kit for good money. And already have lot of fun on it, which is most important I guess.
