Solo Sails

Do you mean sails for a Solo dinghy, or Solo Sails the manufacturer?

....in Newlyn.

Saw some cruising dacron stuff they did. Looked pretty good. This is maybe five or six years ago now?

Nothing much to report, so really that's good I guess?
All seemed to look and fit as it should, and I think sensible on pricing.

I'm looking to assess whether to go down there and speak with them - but it's a long haul, and such costs would need factoring in.

Is there any specific reason to use them if they're not local?
Are they experts in your type of boat, for example, or stock a certain type of material, or massively cheaper?

Pinner & bax. Their Phantom sails were not the absolute best but not bad. I have had a couple. One has to follow the race winners to find the best & have the sails cut to suit the sailor, the mast & the wind strengths. (my son & a couple of his Phantom friends do this & it makes a difference)
As the OP is asking the question, I would ( with respect) doubt he is to that level yet

I'm quite familiar with Pinnell and Bax, and have spent more than a few quid with them.

However, given he's asking about a sailmaker that specialises in big boat sails, I think it's not unreasonable to assume that he's after big boat sails.
