Solid / wire railguard on sailboat

Hello from Norway..

Every sailboat I have seen is equipped with wire rails, more or less tightened.
Falling against a (slack) wire rail or a solid steel tube rail should be a world of differens.
No doubt in my mind what I want to fall against!
Why is there no sailboat with solid railguards?
