My teak locker lids are secured to teak frames using 3.5 x 1 inch hinges in solid brass I need to replace several of them.

I've tried on line and asked several chandlers but failed to find this specific size has anyone got a supplier that might have this size ?

If not a 4 X 1 would be ok all the hinges seem to get deeper as they get longer IE eBay has 4 inch length but 2 inch depth , I did consider buying this size and grinding the flap down to 1 inch but then the holes are all wrong.

Any help gratefully accepted.

I bought some solid brass hinges from Screwfix, a while back, so their range may have changed.....

are you sure your 4 x 2" hinges arnt actually 1". when they give a size for hinges it normally means when open, so they would probally be
1".

3.5 in hinges do exist and , in theory, can be bought. I tried to get some a few years ago to replace some doors in my house but it was just too much trouble. Somewhere there will be a traditional commercial architectural ironmonger probably in the East End who will stock them, particularly if they are involved in restoration work.

I just opened up the 3.5 in hinge rebates in the frames and put in new wood inserts and used 3in hinges.

You might consider doing something similar possibly using these hinges which are rather good value for money IMO

Thanks for everyone's input I'll chase up the leads so far

I have had some hinges before that were brass with steel pins they don't survive long before seizing up.

Interesting about the measurement criteria. I had assumed two inch width was each flap but it could indeed be the width of the hinge when open.

The screwfix ones I have are brass pin.
But their range changes from time to time.
