Hi all
Looking for winter boat storage in Solent area (Mainland between Poole and Chichester) ashore for 35ft sailboat, 6ft draft. Dont have own cradle. Like to keep mast up. Lift late sept, splash May.

I know there are lots to choose, but looking for good value(aren't we all!). Wicor marine seem reasonable, but if anyone can recommend somewhere else that would be good.
Thanks in advance

I've used Deacons for the last 4 years. Reasonably priced for the area but more importantly for me was that it was very sheltered from prevailing winds, good onsite facilities, pragmatic yard and very close to the motorway making trips down much quicker.

Definitely check out Thornham Marine, an excellent yard at the top of Thorney Channel in Chichester Harbour - you'd need care with tides but they handle big boats, and last I heard were excellent value.

Good road access near Southbourne on the old main Chichester - Emsworth road and I was told Seateach chandlery are moving to there.

I have no connection, just was impressed when a friend had their boat there.

Trafalgar Wharf opposite Port Solent in Portsmouth Harbour may be worth a look. The advantage compared with Wicor (just down the road) is that parking is less of an issue on busy weekends in the Spring; the disadvantage is that there is no Salt Cafe.

Would second recommendation of Thornham marina. We over-wintered there last year and will do so again this year. Competitive pricing but more importantly really nice people who will take care of your boat. With a 6 foot draft you'll need to see if they can accommodate you. We're 1.70m and are getting towards the limit I think. I don't think your draft will be accommodated at Trafalgar Wharf, but I may be wrong.
