Hi All:

Due to current circumstances I shall rarely be using my boat (Dehler 34) this season and therefor looking for any type of mooring that will enable me to visit and maintain when the occassion may arise.

Currently in Brighton but unwilling to part with over 4k especially due to the excessive silting problems.

Any ideas or sub lets please let me know.

Thanks

Quay Lane in Portsmouth harbour may have a tidal mooring on soft mud that would suit. Wicor Marine would be another place worth trying IIRC, they have mid-river pontoons. Gosport Boatyard would probably be dearer, but has the advantage of a water taxi to take you out to the boat.

I assume the OP is looking for a buoy and being based in Hove actually might find ChicHester harbour the nearest location . Plenty of variety and while the drive to Chi is painfully slow might be cheapest. They do sub lets at Port Solent of marina berths if cheaper locked in location preferred .
assume that trips to the island to visit not ideal but as mentioned you might look at the Folly or island harbour

We liked Wicor when we were there but a summer there will cost you about GBP 2,400. They aren't as cheap as they used to be. No silting though.

Might be worth asking the Hamble River office. I know there were a few sub 8m moorings around. You never know, you may be lucky - worth a call to see if there is a short term let available? Another alternative is the RAF club have a few saved for new members.
