This was taken at Anchor in Osbourne bay after a day of playing in the fog around Bramble bank

Looks like an inversion layer to me rather than fog.

High pressure keeps all the pollution pushed down making what you see. Go 500ft up and it's clear.

It may well have been, it still had the same effect of poor visibility.
