We left Gosport on Saturday about 1aam with very little wind, my wife taking us out into the Solent for a day sail. Made the decision to go east towards Hayling and maybe out towards the Nab. With only 2knts of wind abandoned the idea and decided to motor over
to Priory Bay. As we motored towards Horsesand Fort I saw a large grey shape in the water. We sat still and some 5 minutes later a dolphin surfaced. We notified the coastguard and the MOD police launch came out from Portsmouth. We saw the dolphin a further 5 times over the next hour as it made its way eastwards. The Police launch confirmed that it was a male bottle nosed dolphin and probably feeding. All details were passed to Dolphin watch by the Police launch. Just to make the day complete the wind came up to 20knts in the afternoon. My wife has taken a couple of pictures which I hope to post later. It was our perfect day in the Solent.

Allways makes my day when we see any dolphins or seals. In early summer off the west Wales coast there were thousands this year.Little video here of some in Camarthen Bay.
