I left the quiet and sedate east coast on Saturday at 4am and arrived in the very mad and mental Solent at midday. The run from the east to west side of the Solent was the most choppy of the whole journey, surely because of the amount of boats criss-crossing each other. I have been to the Solent a couple of times before, but I have never seen it like the weekend just gone.

Great for visiting, but I am not sure I could put up with it all the time

One of the reasons I try NOT to leave my berth during weekends!

Thought is was pretty quiet, although Hamble/Calshot can sometimes get a little active.

we had nice run back from Lymington Sunday, left midday and lovely and quiet all the way back until we went past Beaulieu and approached Calshot and it got busy, lots of people having fun, a pair of beautiful Grand Banks 42's? heading the other way looked great, a chap went pasted in a Hunton like we were standing still... very impressive, and then we caught up with all the raggies who had taken the tide up the Solent in the morning and so it did look busy. it may look a bit mad but you get used to it!

...didn't like the sound of the pan pan medical going on, head injury cause by blade of propeller, but from initial pan pan to casualty being airlifted can't have been much more than 5 minutes. Very impressive, just hope the poor sole survived.
