Summer 2005 was meant to be the year it all came together i.e. new boat with the right gear and a large annual holiday entitlement carried over from last year. I could devote up to 4 weeks on an extended holiday cruise down to say La Rochelle.
Now I am wondering if I should delay and shorten the cruise in order not to miss the international fleet review in late June. Is this once a generation fleet review so special that it is worth delaying the big cruise till 2006?
Plan A
Use the late Spring bank holiday to get the boat from Portsmouth down to St Malo followed by a couple of long week-ends in June in France. Then in the final week of June start the full 3.5 week cruise and head home as the French begin to holiday en-mass.
Plan B
Stay in Gosport and use 1 week's holiday to view the festivities and head off early July for the usual C.I. 2 week juant that might possibly not get further than Weymouth is the 1st week's weather is bad.
I think Plan A remains my favourite.
