Come across a few in my time, all have been good runners, they are based on mitisubusi industrial diesel, which are great bits of kit.

We have a Sole Mini 34 and it works well although it's too big for the boat and there's not much space around it. I guess a previous owner thought that bigger was better. It's based on a Mitsubishi K4D and spares are plentiful. Sole are in Barcelona but I think that Diamond Diesels are the UK dealers.

K4D is a good reliable old tech push rod engine. The 80D was the Thornycroft 35HP conversion, used in several Moody models from around 1988. Diamond Diesels are the UK Mitsubishi engine distributors and usually have new and some second hand parts off the shelf.
I replaced our K4D with the larger S4L (Thornycroft T105) 43hp engine about 10 years ago and last I heard, the 80D was still running well after 30+ years.
