So I have sold my Old Sunseeker Mexico which I refurbed, mainly due to lack of use. The issue I have is that I live in Queensway Quay Marina, Gibraltar (In an apartment). Most of the reason I loved boats is meeting people on the pontoons, looking at peoples boats and going for a beer. Having a house here I can do all of the above so I downsized the boat to a day boat and she got used less and less.

I still love staying away from Gib and so bought a Caravan up the coast near Duquesa port on the sea front. Again easy access to Marina but easier living. I think the main issue here is that Cruising is quite boring after 7.5 years around here so a day boat became best option. However I just could not be bothered sorting boat out, especially as it was quite old and needed constant TLC.

So I am boatless and quite relaxed about it. The option if I want another 40ft is to put it in Majorca as there are cheap and regular flights from Malaga to Majorca. However what do I gain? plus Majorca is very pricy. For now will see if the caravan (which is a tourer just in case) will work.

When I first moved out here I had a sports boat for watersports in Duquesa and loved going out for the day. However the Border issues and having to drive home back to Gib ruined it after a while. Maybe the answer is to get a sportsboat again in Duquesa and see how it goes.

I suppose having a boat where you live seems great, but it just gets used less as you do not make the effort. Anyone else had this problem?

We have an apartment just outside Estepona and a day boat in Estepona. If you miss boating I'm sure we can sort something out. Estepona has no fuel so I do occasionally pop into Duquesa for some of the petro stuff.
Wanted to buy a flybridge first but better half decided on supporting the local real estate market, so I came to the same conclusion: if you have a local place you don't use a bigger boat.

An apartment in Spain and a boat at home are almost mutually exclusive as we were almost invariably in the wrong place at the right time. So we sold the apartment and are now waiting for some decent weather! May go out to Spain for a quick break!
It appears you can't have your cake and eat it.

We have both. Spain 4 times a year. boat the rest. Can't wait to retire so I can do either as and when I please.

What you need is a third or quarter share in a Phantom 40 or Azi 39 based in Mallorca. PM me if interested!
