I bought one of these recently. I fully expected it to be rubbish but figured worth a punt for £10. I used it for the first time today and was amazed how good it actually is. The water got hot - and I mean proper hot not lukewarm. There was sufficient water for a fairly laid back shower, and the hose gave a decent flow. On cooler days I plan to use the kettle to add some warmth but it seems to grab all the available sunshine so may not need to.

I'd recommend one for any small boat :)

Thanks for reminding me I've got one of those, as yet untested, buried somewhere at the bottom of a locker.

It also occured to me that it doesn't need to be just a shower, it's a good source of warm water for hand washing and dishes too. No use at the bottom of a locker though :)

LustyD,

I'm not entirely sure the locals would appreciate the sight in the cockpit of the true design, skills and exercise which have given me this highly toned body in the shape of, and in a token to, Homer Simpson, but the bit about hot water for washing up is useful info', Ta.

That's the great thing, you'd only use it for showering in a quiet anchorage. I myself have the physique of a swimmer...people expect to see whales out on the water ;)

I used mine on Sunday and it got warm enough. I added more from a kettle, but mostly because I hadn't put enough in to begin with (expecting to need the kettle top-up for reasons of temperature). However, this is the first time it has got so warm - days as hot as yesterday (and I'm guessing today, from deep inside a sealed building :( ) are not that common.

The main problem with mine is that the pipe was folded (rather than coiled) in the packaging and the kinks reduce the flow. I keep meaning to replace it, I think I even have some similar pipe in the shed, but always forget.

They are rather good - used mainly for washing sand off children in the cockpit at anchor ('cos we're not posh enough to have a proper transom shower) *without* using up boat-tank fresh water supplies.

We're on our second one, after the hose-bit broke after a couple of years.

various sizes.
keep an eye out at Lidl - I got mine (20lt I think) there for about 6 euro last year.

A friend claims that black plastic jerry cans work well also - with a pump - althought that was in the med.

I have one and used it recently.Although very good there is possibley room fo9r improvement in the stop cock which needs two hands to hold still(the tube) and work the tap

Yes Yes Yes....
In kiwi land we have had them that way for years.... its so sensible that you hold the end and can switch it on and off at will. I'm always amazed that they all have the stop cock at the bottom of the bag instead of combining it with the sprinkler...push - pull.

(Once you've done it with one hand...you wont go back!!)

If I could find one combined with the sprinkler ... I would buy it immediately.
