Solar panels - where do you fit yours?

Where is mine? On a convenient flat, sloping front to the cabin top, but its only 5 watts.

Ideas ....

goal post at the stern

On top of davits if you have them.

2 x 100w on the cockpit arch, 2x 50w on a tube structure above the sprayhood and 2 x 18w on the cabin top above the control lines back to the cockpit.
All feeding @ 24v into an MPPT controller.

Whilst I'd get double the output by swivelling to maximise insolation, that's not usually feasible @ anchor.

4 x 80W rigid on stern gantry. Yes, I know they're ugly things, but they are handy and the boat came with one (with only two panels: we added the others). As well as whacking in the amps, they make for a peasant* shady spot at the stern (the boat's centre cockpit). I absolutely will not buy semi-flexible since they do not last in the sun, usually de-laminating a nanosecond after the warranty runs out. Rigids are cheaper, too, although often not so convenient to fit.

Charles set-up pretty much embraces the mounting options for panels, although they can also work well hinged onto the rails on the aft quarter. Obviously the wiring's simpler if they're all in one bunch, or whatever the collective noun for panels might be.

* Sorry: a typo, or perhaps a Freudian slip. My sub-conscience knows its place.
