I'm looking for a supplier for a couple of 40w solar panels.
One offering best value*. (* almost certainly a euphemism for Cheapest).

UK or France, or ready willing and able to deliver to UK or France.

Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

[and yes, sorry, I have posted this in more than one place . . ]

I live in France and I buy all my solar panels from www.svb.de. Germany is cheapest place I know for solar panels, partly because it has a big market, partly because VAT is less in Germany than France. Shipping from svb to France is 15E, whatever the size of the order.

When I bought my panels two year ago I saved 30% over the cost of the same panels in France, and 35% over the cost in UK.

Thanks Ric and Thanks Nat.

Ric, I did look at the SVB website before posting my query (having done a YBW search and seen you'd mentioned them before) but found the site too difficult (me = almost zero German) and what I could see of the prices looked nothing special. Perhaps I was mistaken . . ?

Nat, thanks for your info. and I'll contact you if, as and when. Many thanks.

I'll post a precis here of what I eventually find out / decide.

Anyone else have any further suggestions?

Re: £ so far

A correct and fair point, Lemain, and no of course this is a bit of an outline assessment based on the openly published gross prices for similar panels (only - no accessories) with delivery.
I'm just a punter and can't really fine judge solar panel technology or quality. Frankly, I'm not sure how relevant they are . . . (to me).

Nevertheless . . . even an - approximate - cost difference of the order of £100-£400 would seem to provide a reasonably clear signal, and what would appear to be the 'lowest' also comes recommended by Ric following his own previous investigations.

Anyway, I'm still looking and thinking!

Re: £ so far

I'm no expert on the subject but I've been looking at what's available. Some have greater output per sq m, some need ventilation between the panel and the deck, some you can walk on, some are flexible, one has a non-slip surface you can walk on, lie on, needs no ventilation and doesn't cut out when partially obscured.....

Just looked up an old list for http://www.bardenbatteries.co.uk/solar/index.html and their prices (end of last year so have probably gone up slightly):

SM164S 41w £199 +vat (solid panel)
SM220K 55w £261 + Vat (adhesive)
SM160M 40w £290 + VAT (semi-flexible)
SM128F 32w £274 + VAT (flexible as a rubber mat)
