Hello sailors,

The solar panel on my boat is now 12 years old and decidedly dodgy. It is a semi flex unit and is affixed to the roof and used to keep the 3 batteries fully charged (independent of shore power). The dimensions cannot exceed 82cm X 67 cms. It has been very good but retirement time is here.

I have located a semi flex from Solara (CBS225) which would fit fine.

However, in the collective wisdom, has anyone found a better performer (more power)(same dimensions or slightly smaller) amongst the semi flex or full flex units?

Where is the best place for lowest price?

Thank you.

Solar Panels

I have two 225M panels fail on me and the last time I bought a panel from www.power-store.com (Merlin) of a different make. This panel is about the same size and a little cheaper. I was idsappointed in the Solara products, as on friends boats the in line protection devices also failed and I had to replace a transistor in them ...... could have been caused by lightning or high EM field during electrical storms (hard to be sure).

Merlin Solarplex 65W are £652, and 806 x 662 x 4.2 mm

Thank you for the info. I will look into it and dust off my basic German.

OT: I did not know the Seastream 43. So I Googled and found one with your forum name... Nice boat! GL with the sale :)
