It appears not all B&G kit's software can be upgraded via the plotter (Zeus2) and as far as I can tell it requires software to be downloaded onto a laptop which is then connected to the N2K network in order to carry out the update.

Can anybody recommend the necessary physical connectors between USB and the boat's network? Google doesn't appear to be much help with this.

With Raymarine almost everything could be done via the plotter :ambivalence:

I updated mine by downloading the software update and copied it from my Mac to a micro SIM card and inserted into the Zeus card slot and it all worked perfectly

I have extensive Navico (B&G, Simrad) kit on board, and the software/firmware is all updated by loading the updates on a SD card (or the original non-touch Zeus can use also a thumb drive) and running them from there.

That includes: Zeus Touch and Zeus non-Touch, AC42 autopilot, pilot control keybad, Triton MFD's, 4G radar.

I've never heard of a different method of doing this.

My error, I meant to say micro SD not SIM. Apologies for any confusion.

Thanks, I'll try using the plotter next time I'm onboard.

B&G's website contains links to a software updating tool which it claims is required!

I didn't do much more than check the install was complete and that the new software version number was displayed on the system menu.

However it is now flagging that a software update is required for my autopilot but nothing is shown on B&G's website and a google search suggests this update only concerns serial numbers :disgust:

Does anyone know if Triton displays can be updated from a touchscreen Vulcan 7. The manuals for the Tritons pre-date the Vulcan 7, and I have not found anything yet in the Vulcan manual. I would like to update my Tritons to get the close hauled wind screen, which is in a later software version.
