Looking to go fly to Nice for a holiday whilst boat is [hopefully] in transit to Spain, but we would like to [re]visit the South of France for a land based holiday, and fly from there to Barcelona / Reus 7 days later when we should meet the boat.

We are looking at St Maxime, but would be grateful for any recommendations for towns / restaurants East or West of Nice for a non-boaty break.

Travelling 18th July.

We love Beaulieu Sur Mer. Small enough enough to be peaceful big enough for good food/beaches and transport links. It's between Nice and Monaco on the train line so getting about is easy. However you might find getting accommodation difficult as you are hitting peak season.

What are your interests and what would you like to do for the week?

Good question. We went to Port Grimaud about 11 years ago but did "kids things" as the boys were much younger. We did the race circuit at Monaco but middle son had chronic upset stomach as we started tour of perfume factory at Grasses so that cut that short.

Going to travel as a couple so going for sight seeing and good food rather than beach holiday and grub.

Sods law one of the boys will want to tag along though..

Why don't you fly to Nice as planned and then use the train to slowly wind yourselves down to Barcelona. Take a Michelin guide for eating and plan as you go?

nearly Paul... Not tomorrow as that's thats the ERC final I think but got the intermediate cup final on Sunday. Big day out for us all. He is still waiting for a start date for his "day job"

I thought it strange to have two matches on ERC final day. Wish him the best of luck for Sunday, it is a huge achievement and something he must be massively proud to be part of. I am sure no-one would mind a couple of photos of him at Twickers being posted on here!

Hope everyone is keeping well, have a great holiday, we may just have to pop out to the med later in the season as med boating has started to become a conversation in our house. Where did you decide on berthing in the end, Saint Carlos?

Thanks, will do - upset that they have been alocated the away changing room, but either way chance of a lifetime.

Still go do a recce on 16th to 18th of May but 95% certain on Sant Carles as its still MDL but who knows where we'll be in a few years from now !

I'll pm a few details...

We stayed in B-sur-Mer several years ago and hired a car. Went to Grasse, St.Paul de Vence, San Remo, St.Tropez. Lovely little place for lunch was The African Queen and a nice piano bar at night near to the water.
