so who is on-board and hiding from the wind

Went down to Gosport with the plan to take the old man out for a Father's Day trip, but it was howling through at 35+knts in the marina, so we went keel kicking instead!

Well I popped down to Winteringham to see if you were around at about 1:15ish. Was a good Force 4. The cows on the opposite bank were huddled in a corner; more hoping for food, I think, than sheltering.

Our boat is out of the water for the weekend for a bit of maintenance and a quick paint job, the racing was canned in the Medway today and a Sonata lost its mast.

I think Dylan may be right about the 'summer'!

bless you

got amedical check up weds

then as long as it is not raining going to the boat thursday, friday and over the weekend

Not been to Winteringham for a few years. Still the same, although there is a "Memorial Bench" on the opposite bank for a young man of 18. Sad to see it there.

Then popped to South Ferriby. When I had a mooring there in about 1996 or 1997 there were boats on both sides of the bank for a good few hundred yards. Doubt there were more than 20 boats on moorings there now. Sad to see.

Mostly blue skies and sunshine with a brief shower down here near Weymouth but why has it been F6-7 gusting 7-8? I didn't bother going down to the boat.

Did a passage from Hamble to Cowes this afternoon. Sustained wind of 30kts from the SW with gusts of 40kts. Wind-over-tide made the whole thing quite impressive. One other yacht out there, plus two cruise ships exiting Southampton Water for the Nab.

Tomorrow's forecast is for the wind to back SE 2-3 (weatheronline) or SE 3-4 (XCweather) or SE 4-5 (met office).

We shall see...

Done my big solo voyage for the year Zaandam nl to the river Severn,, fantastic weather, every day a running day. finished on the 5th, so went to Upton today!

Mind you cant grumble we raised the mast last weekend despite the weather

Went down to the boat today hoping for a planned gentle bimble around the top of Chi Harbour with #1 son who had flown in from Geneva just for the treat. Realised the plans may have to be modified a bit whilst driving down the A3 and seeing the trees on the side of the road being blown about like mad. Got to the boat to find her straining at the chain and decided that even getting out to her in the tender would be "challenging" so popped into the club bar for a quick drink only to find that the programmed race event had been cancelled as it was blowing a steady SW F7. Drove off down to Southsea front to see the waves breaking up over the cars parked south of the hovercraft slip and then returned back home inland. Oh well, he will be back again in a couple of months!!!

Plan another trip down tomorrow to check that all is well on board when hopefully the wind will have eased a tad.

I love snuggling down in two sleeping bags when in a safe place and the wind is howling

D

Sleeping bags, in your own boat? I used to do that but so 'restricting' that swmbo and I tried individual duvets in our large for'ard bed and they are sooo much better.

We also splashed out on sprung mattresses shaped to the forepeak and I feel as comfy on the boat as I do at home.

Totally agree about being tucked up and enjoying the sound of the wind whilst at anchor on my Rocna....woops wrong thread! ;)

on a small boat the bedroom is the kitchen, study, living room so the bedding has to be put away each morning

so no escape from the sleeping bag

however, my boat can get to places that the multi-cabinned depth challneged wallahs cannot reach

Shown up by the oldies

Classic Regatta on the Orwell this weekend. Yesterday very few modern yots out in the gusty conditions but a terrific display by the beautiful fleet of earlier craft. No holds barred terrific racing, full sail carried by several and a few kites, thanks people, really good to see that these boats are still used to the full. Congrats to all competitors and SYH for organising. (can I have a discount for saying that? )
