so who has the fastest boat

we went out on the "race ribs" at sbs tryaboat. wife's one (full race) took her at 70mph - mine only got up to 50 - bah!

I always knew I should be certified! and now the goddess of powerboating has installed me as an official nutter, praise indeed considering you can doughnut a 12 ton sports cruiser and scare the pants off me!

He he, wait till I get you out to have a drive in her, you won't stop grinning for a week. Even now when I think of the sea trial with the factory test driver I get goose bumps, it really is an all out assault on the senses, everything happens so fast you have to be 100% focused or you'll bin it! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Reckon I only managed about half of its potential and thought I was giving it the berries until he took over, near pooped myself!

Very nice and fast, for sure.
But let me throw in my two cents, based both on talks with boat racers and on a visit made a couple of years ago to their factory in Porlezza.
As long as you're planning to use such boat on inland waters, and/or in dead calm sea, then go for it.
If you like to play hard with speed and waves, then think again.
80+kts in open sea is serious enough to require professional drivers and extremely well built boats.
This would be one of my preferred choices, for such kind of game.
All the best in any case, whatever your choice!

Take your point there, of course if one where to try and attain 80+ Knts in anything other than calm conditions you need either to be a very experienced racer type bod or off your trolly.

As far as Performance Marine's boats are concerned they can definitely handle the rough stuff and are built like tanks but there is a limit to how fast you can push any boat even F1 offshore stuff in the lumpy stuff, there will always come a point of no return and then mucho tears.

Been out in the 11.07 in reasonably lumpy stuff from Portofino and she handles fantasically well but max speed was limited to about 40 knts otherwise you were airbourne more times than in the water and the engines kept hitting the limiter everytime we came out.

I like the FB stuff but all looks a bit to commercial or military looking for my tastes, if you are going to spend that kind of money its got to look drop dead georgous as well as go like stink. I can see the attraction of the FB if you are more into the real serious reckord breaking stuff or an out and out hooligan /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
