So where are we and what's for Christmas dinner?

Re: So where are we and what\'s for Christmas dinner?

In Lemmer,NL...-2C but sunny...all alone in our marina...where are you sailors?...life is great!
Happy new year.

Vila Real de San Antonio (Portugal).

Melon & ham, roast chicken with lemon & thyme stuffing, potatoes, sprouts and peas. Fruit salad for dessert. The remains of a box of vino tinto and a bottle of Italian bubbly somebody had donated to us. After Eights and coffee.

Followed by relaxation and sleep!

We had a cycle round the town in the morning, it was warm enough for shorts.

Unfortunately the marina showers were not open, so we were not as clean as usual! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Lemain. Let us know how you got on with that hotel. Sounds like the standard British rip-off to me. I suspect all they will say is No one else complained putting the emphasis on you as if your the guilty party. But then as we know, few Brits will complain, not the done thing old boy, hence establishments such as this get away with it and have no concern about repeat business.

Were alongside in Falmouth in our Liveaboard 13m steel ketch.
Wifey cooked a full xmas dinner onboard yesterday, turkey & all the trimmings and all washed down with a bottle or two of Tesco special offer Rioja. Followed by xmas pud and cream. And delicious it was to.
Our two Jack Russels had the best of it, feasting on the leftovers

A prosperous New Year to everyone, no matter where you are in the World. Kind Winds & a Calm Sea.

Dear Mr

With regards to your fax I received this morning.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write to me, I have been General Manager at the Talbot for only a short period of time, and genuinely do appreciate feed back, and was in fact going to contact you personally today.

I was one of the 3 managers on duty throughout lunch yesterday, I could be the one you refer to as being “dressed casually”, although I was in a suit with collar shirt. So you could be referring to someone else.

I was going to contact you to offer a full refund as it was clear you were not happy.

I fully appreciate your comments that you did not wish to make a scene at the time, and can assure you there should not be any need for you to make a scene, had you asked for a new main course or asked to speak to a manager, both of these would have been possible without you having to make a scene.

In light of your comments that I have taken very seriously the following has happened-

Your initial comments and fax have been passed to our chef and will be discussed at length in the kitchen weekly team meeting.

And as a direct result of your fax, to give me a full clear picture of all other guests experiences I will be emailing a comment form to everyone else who joined us for Christmas day lunch, so I can fully assess how all guests feel about their Christmas at the Talbot Inn.

I should stress however that we had many residents staying with us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day who are still with us and their response has been very positive, many of our tables were used for two sittings we served almost 120 guests, throughout the meal and during final payment stage no negative comments have been received.

Once again I can assure you that your comments have been taken seriously.

A full refund of all food items will be made to your credit card on Monday 29 December should you wish to receive a copy of the refund statement please email me your postal addressee.

I fully appreciate yesterday should have been a very special day for you and apologise for not meeting your expectations.

Yours is the first negative comment I have received during my short time here at the Talbot Inn, and I would very much like to give you the opportunity, to visit us again so you can experience the sensational food that is served here, while I appreciate your extreme disappointment, should you ever be in our locality again please contact me personally, and I would be happy in addition to the food refund that you will receive today to offer you complimentary lunch or dinner for two people.

Regards

Paul Dixon

We shan't take him up on his offer of another free meal. What puzzles me is how they can confuse cafeteria-style cuisine with Michelin-style cuisine. What hope is there for them?
