So what's it worth?

Re: So what\'s it worth?

Josephine recently sold for £150k or so....

Re: So what\'s it worth?

True, but that wasn't owned by Griff Rhys Jones, nor boarded by Dara o Brian and Rory McRath, which i would assume could add quite some value...

Re: So what\'s it worth?

There is a previous posting with details of the sister boat for sale ( white boat ) £145,000 I believe.
What a programme !! laughed all the way through.

Re: So what\'s it worth?

Thanks to your posting Lescargot, I realize I sailed on Undina in 1996 when John Swanborough owned her, at that time she had a self tacking jib about the size of a handkercheif, glad to see she now has a decent rig.

Re: So what\'s it worth?

After these programmes I would have thought that it would have reduced the value after some of the mistreatment they gave that beautiful yacht. But then I don't value celebrity status like some do.

Re: So what\'s it worth?

Well that's just stupid, for £250K he could have got himself a nice Bavaria (also german) and saved himself a lot of varnishing.

Have you no soul, man?

Re: So what\'s it worth?

Personally I am thankful for Griff having a classic boat.

If it was not for people like him, paying yards like Alan Staley's to restore yachts no-expense-spared - then these people will go out of business and the skills will vanish with them.

This in turn helps the less well heeled classic yachy owners have sythpathetic yards for repairs and etc. If not these lovely old yards will then need to be dredged out and turned into Marinas for all you Bavaria AWB lovers - as that would be the only way to make money. So in a small way he is also helping to keep a traditional feel to our coast.

I'm sure that he does have his tongue very firmly in cheek!

Re: So what\'s it worth?

I don't know what the number was but he did say that it was well below what the boat had cost him. Somehow I don't think he bought the boat to make a profit, but then who does?

It should be worth more than the white one as it has a genuine wooden rig rather than painted alloy. My guess would be about £200k.

If Gryff can afford to keep her running why on earth would he sell. You could see the look of horror when they had a look over the Beneteau in Brighton just to see that he would never have an AWB.
