Looks neat LS, but was that a bit of mid steel angle with the stainless U-bolt in electrical contact with it? If so, I think it might go brown and crispy quite quickly. (Though I accept it's not in seawater).

And it won't be in freshwater either. It's in the garden and covered over. (Also painted with galvanising primer, which I realise isn't true galvanising, but I have had great success with it with mild steel, chrome vanadium and stainless bolts.)

Anyway. It's just lift up a floor panel and undo two nuts. Not really worth long-term planning.

if Lakey magnetises that piece of mild steel he would be able to put his can of beer down on the sole by the U bolt, and execute one of his lightning roll tacks, without any fear of the can sliding all over the place. Of course the magnetic field will dramatically influence the functioning of the fluxgate compass sensor for the self-steering and integrated GPS and AIS system which still have to be installed. Lots of Megateslas in the bilge area would also preclude wearing clogs with nails in the soles. Some sacrifices to technology will have to be made...
