for the incredible hot summer that will come really early next year and not ignoring the fact that marine diesel will plummet in price as well.
SarahT will definately be comng round to the Thames to take advantage of the "NEW" 5 day visiters licence so recently introduced by EA at the request of the TMBA.
Also will be buying a book of discounted "Mooring Tickets" which you buy at Teddington.
This gives you 20% off the overnight mooring fees at all paying locations, saving you a walk to the parking machine/ Leisure Centre and also rummaging for acceptable change under the dinette.

Given that next year; there will be no rain or red boards, Rushey lock will always be operational, the O/B will be reliable, my son never unwell, my holiday allowance topped up and my wife as understanding about boating as she was this year. A grand voyage to Abingdon is planned!

Wonder if B1 will accompany the BCC round to the Medway next year ,if he starts out the day before, they could all arrive at the same time. ?

Looking forward to taking FSoB down to the estuary in 2013, but the New year will see her in St Kats first of all!

:)

That's cruel, the club would look after him, no matter how slow he might be, but he wouldn't be the only one!

Aah, bless !

Scurrilous suggestion from Oldgit that we would be that slow, anyway. As he well knows ('cos he was with me) we did Teddington to Chatham with the tides in about 8.5 hours non stop at around 2,500 revs!

The main problem I have with the club cruises is that it tends to be a fairly prompt return and I can't see the point in making the effort just to turn round and come back again - this year we kept the boat down there for a month or so. Also. I will always need volunteer crew as swmbo would not want to do the more open water stretch.

Probably, a great many boats would agree with you and would like to stay longer and enjoy more time away, Tony. Problem is, so many of us have to get back promptly for work!

H,mm....corse its us "workers" who are paying them there pensions !
Go back to bed and get out the right side, please, Fred. I've more than paid my dues over the years and this has got nothing to do with it anyway.

SWMBO still works full time and we arranged our 2 week summer holiday to fit in with the trip. She drove down to Chatham and joined me the day after we arrived and we stayed on the boat for two weeks. We then drove home and used the boat for two further weekends before the return trip to PH. Living in Surrey, the journey time to Chatham was not that much longer than our usual drive to Bray.

Being able to take advantage of MDL's Freedom Berthing made a big difference of course. When they first introduced it I didn't think it would be of much use to me - how wrong I was!

It's a great feature of MDL Berthing, but had you any anodes left after two weeks in Chatham? :D:D:D ;)

Oh dear Tony. If you have freshwater anodes they could well be toast! Chatham 'naval dockyard' has a terrible reputation for eating nodes...
