I presume the newly announced embargo on Brit tourists to Spain includes those of us who were planning to arrive in Galicia by yacht in the not too distant future?

Does anyone think we will be allowed in before the Autumn when a Biscay passage is less appetising? And if not Spain, how about direct to Portugal?

Update 28th May. Health Spokesman Fernando Simon suggested that the first stage of opening up to international markets will be to restore freedom of movement within the EU Schengen area, and Spain is working with its European partners for a common set of rules. Beyond that, countries will be added “taking into account the incidence of Coronavirus in each country.” Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto went on to say that a further requirement would be that each country’s border controls and travel restrictions would also have to be lifted prior to allowing any travel to Spain.

So, its a case of wait and see......

And do the rules apply equally to all nations?

(ie is the proposed ban on Brits only going to apply to flying in??)

Have a look in the Corona virus Greece thread, post No 355, it says they cannot prevent entry on nationality alone, only from certain airports, i know its about Greece, but the same rules should apply.

Noonsite is up to date and reliable on entry to Spain. Spain | Noonsite

Currently, entry to recreational sailors from outside of Spanish waters is for force majeure reasons only and then with heavy quarantine restrictions. Unrestricted entry by recreational sailors comes in Phase 3 of Spain's de-escalation from it's 'state of alarm' over coronovirus. The same time as ferries and the final commercial shipping restrictions are lifted. Spain will be concentrating on internal tourism and then tourists arriving from countries with similar levels of Covid19 contamination. Given that Britain is currently enduring death rates similar to the rest of the EU27 countries put together, and Spain is being very cautious, we could be in for a long wait. But its a fast moving situation so keep abreast of info every couple of weeks. I use Noonsite and the Med Sailing Facebook group.
