So many silver cars...why so few silver yachts?

How long does that wrap-stuff last?

Honestly, I'm not really tempted.

But it could be an interesting alternative to antifouling...halfway through the season, just peel it off and start again clean.

I read that DeLorean car owners end up paranoid about fingers going near their brushed stainless skins. We Land Rover owners are paranoid about the aluminium skins disappearing in fresh water, let alone salt.
 
Good point, I hadn't thought of all the stainless, like pintles on board. Rapid electrolytic disintegration. Or something.

Would you want to be inside a huge rapella style silver lure for the Megladon?

There was a fairly regular local visitor here, the boat was silver and to be honest it was not a good look. Probably millions of dollars worth and I don't recall who owned it BUT no!

I've never seen the metallic finish wraps, but the plain colours have a reputation for not lasting particularly well. I think they would manage half a season, but they are not cheap, so I'm not sure that you would be wanting to apply it with an expectation of as little as six months lifetime.

This J111 replaced a J109, which was also a silver wrap.

Looked really good until it got a few scuffs in it.
 
I saw in croatia a yacht where the hull was covered with a mirror foil.
defacto the hull was invisible by the mirrored water. only deck and sails were visible. impressiv!

I agree with you about the number of interviewees that start their response with 'so.......'. it really irritates me but I think it may be to give them some thinking time.
 
In the Med I have seen a few old white powerboats spray painted metallic silver blue. Scratches show through very easily.
