So how are

Your boats, is anyone having something interesting done to theirs or found any new toys to fit, do tell, love to hear all about it and ask questions,
your ever nosy,
Powerskipper

I'm having something interesting on my boat....a survey on behalf of the buyer and I've got everything crossed !!!!
Going to buy myself something bigger and better....'watch this space' as they say!

Bit sort of sideways, but..

Not my boat but someone elses and new to me.

Spent the last 2 days doing own boat on a single engine old Trader 39. Found this completely interesting!!! Stern to berthing. Heart rate er, also interesting.

Just installed Digital Yacht AIS transeiver so we are transmitting and receiving AIS. Works great with the Software-On-Board software.

One thing of note is that the AIS unit always sends it's GPS data along with the AIS transmission and this was a problem as our chart software was already getting gps data from our fixed gps already. What we did was to put a switch on the fixed gps output so that we can use it as a backup and we now use the AIS gps for our chartplotter.

We have been picked up by the local AIS-to-shipais receiver so family can track our progress online :-)

I like AIS, but you have kind of shot yourself in the foot if you want to sneek out on the boat without anyone knowing, unless you have fitted an on/off switch to it.LOL

Like Markdj, I fitted AIS tx/rx last weekend. The COmar one that hurric recommended. Been meaning to do it for ages. Works well, easy integration to Raym screens. And yes I've fitted a switch to turn the transmitter off, to keep a low profile! I expect it'll always be off, except on night passages

I bought some new gizmos at LIBS, to fit in next few weeks. 3x Ray E140W touch screens - they were really nice to play with on the Raymarine stand. And Ultrasonic antifouling, which was £250 off at the show. They were selling loads of sets on their stand. I'll report back end of the year on that one

... my boat is happy putting up more hours.

I clocked up about 200 miles over the XMas.

She's coming out of the water in about 2 weeks for her annual service/polish, going to give her about 4 weeks to 'dry out' and then back in

just fitted some blue led night light to my boat 3 in the cabin 2 in the cockpit area and two on the back deck .All the light are controlled by a 3 channel remote key fob which has a range of 70m which is great for when i go down the boat at night as my marina is badly light.

and also looking at fitting a new colour northstar fish finder mainly for the built in fuel computer.

UK water is so cold you don't need them and we'd be better with wetsuits on our outdrives
Blimey J, you almost made me spill my scotch on SWMBO's brand new EeePC on this one!

Actually, I'm doing that mainly because it's dead easy, when there's a Latham hydraulic steering already fitted on the outdrive.
In fact, the s/s plate attached to the upper part of the drive has already a screwed hole in it, and it's sufficient to fit a hose picking up the water from the cavitation plate.
I've yet to fit it on my boat, but below is an example of how it looks like.

Btw, the outdrive temperature has much more to see with the power it has to handle and how hardly it's used, rather than the water temperature as such. In fact, while in use, the upper drive (which is the one at risk of running too hot) is out of the water anyway.

That said, I must admit that it's not so necessary for my boat/power/usage, but also a bit of bling doesn't hurt after all...
OMG, what will I think of next, maybe u/w RGB lights?!? :D

I shall probably be fitting a galvanic isolator after doing some bonding fault finding - or have they started making VP duoprops from cheese? I shall be putting a pic up on a new thread to see if anyone thinks they are repairable. Only 2 years old :-(

Nothing overly interesting, new plotter, changed engine oil, fiter, fuel filters, aircleaner and anchor shackle. Just need to replace the impellor and find a route for the wire from the plotter to the VHF and I think we're pretty much sorted!
