So how are UK boaters coping with the loss of the red diesel derogation?

Fuel posted prices in places like Lymington and Cowes show around 58P. Thats the catch as its really 85P if you declare 60/40%.

The big ' fuel at cost ' marinas sell at 78P or so which is about what the price was before our wonderful Gordon taxed it.

I do not beleive its altered peoples play time much ; as another has said the weather (wind) has been more of an issue this year again!

For us both, SHMBO and I enjoy actually being on the water between destinations so a couple of years ago started cruising about and not blating over at 20/25knots . Its a nice way to spend a couple of hours on the solent - but....then if you need to dash you can.

What is really annoying me since the loss of derogation is the mish mash of prices shown. Some marinas advertise the 100% rebated price as above, some, show the 100% taxed price hence the pump shows around £1.06 litre and some advertise the 60/40 price.

We need more uniformity to make it easier to decide where the best priced fuel is. It wouldn't matter if they used any of the three above methods, as long as they used the same.

Absolutly agree its a shambles. But exactly as predicted on here last year.

The posted price should be what most users will have to pay.

Ref Wx I have lost count this year the number of occassions i have altered my plans and either apported trips or come back early due poor weather. Last year and this the RYA summer jobbie have had to alter port stays and cancel others. Up until 2007 we had better anchoring Wx in the solent most certainly. Log book proves it too!
