Seriously considering purchasing a Barracuda 9 (new boat or ex-demo equivalent) even in these unusual times we are living through.
Use will usually be day use, occasional weekend away, occasional trip down the coast, mostly day out to a secluded bay, sometimes fishing and sometimes plus extended family with picnic (max 9 persons) on board (and then only with flat-ish seas!!)
What options in the spec would you recommend that I specify? (Make/model of recommended item where passionate!)
What else above "normal" to consider or worry about in these unusual times?

That's where it starts to unravel. Where will you keep the tender? 9 on that boat is probably pushing it. Can it seat 9, if it cant, you really are pushing it.

When I read this thread I did not know what a Barracuda 9 was.... Had a little google and what a lovely boat it is. Watched a video on the Tube and it cheered me right up

They are a fantastic boat. Would be great for a couple with younger kids. So much packed into it, but imo the fact that it has outboards really makes cruising with any sort of tender problematic (not withstanding it opens up the whole petrol vs diesel and inboard vs outboard debate) and if the OP wants to spend the majority of the time in secluded bays this is a very big consideration. If that is the style the OP likes then I would point him in the direction of the Viking Marin 285. Danfarry of this parish has one. Cracking boat too. 9 pax though. No. That's pushing it.

Nothing model specific yet but I was thinking a small inflatable dinghy with a decent sized air pump that could inflate/deflate the dinghy in a (very) reasonable time. Air pump runs from suitably sized additional battery, which is charged from shore power and by outboards. I was also thinking Torqueedo or similar electric motor whose battery was also charged by shore power or outboards. Is that not possible? The dinghy and motor would live in the locker under the aft deck, which seems large enough. Maybe I am just being hopeful. All boats are a compromise somewhere...
 
It's my experience and others will differ, that when cruising and stopping at anchor that the tender is absolutely pivotal. Trying to inflate and deflate a tender in a boat is no easy task and as a result quite often it is forgone almost completely. Do not underestimate the role a tender makes and the ease of deployment and stowage, especially in the UK with big tides and often a slightly choppy sea is King. I can count on one hand the amount of outboards that join us at anchor. A grand total of NONE

I think Bruce is correct about the Blow ,up tender thing. I however feel that if I ever had a choice I would go outboard over inboard always..... At the size of boat you are talking about the whole tender thing is always an issue
