So did the rise in diesel price make ANY difference to your boat use.

Re: So did the rise in diesel price make ANY difference to your boat u

Must agree that what with business being a bit "quiet" at the moment, that the temptation to nip off on Thursday...ish and extend the weekend over to Monday has proved too tempting especially with the weather the way it is.
Found it easy to turn down offer a trip to Majorca last week not just because of normal airport aggro-stessfest-expence-grief but the weather is so nice here.
Regards big stuff not going out, could it be because the downturn has caused the poor old owners to have to actually go into the office and do a days work ? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Ps.Can anybody confirm/deny reports of people paying 8 euros for a bottle of mineral water in Ibiza ?

I changed my use last year in an attempt to get ready for high fuel prices, we stopped zig zagging destinations, and tried to plan a round trip more .
Weekends kept local.

I halved my miles last year but the weather most likely had an influence.

This year seeing as diesel is more or less the same price we are back to normal with the exception I dont power up on the plane as soon as I used to if there are other boats around.
Leaving Chichester for example we could be up/down two to three times.

On entering I remain on the plane longer, again in an attempt to stop powering up/down.

If boats are under sail I figure they are in open waters, as soon as I see everyone under power I slow down and remain at slow speeds, where as before I would power back up once passed them, expensive for the sake of 1/2 mile or so.

Have so far used the boat less - not entirely due to fuel price.
Have kept cruising speed down to 18-20kts.
Unfortunately this policy was blown this week whilst travelling from Salcombe to Dartmouth. This was due to having to keep pace with gjgm who tried to convince me that his Windy won't plane until the speed gets to 24kts. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
