There was more snow in Gosport than I expected when I visited our boat on Saturday:

Slippery to move around. Our engine fired up first try and I ran her for 25 minutes to warm up. I'm happy to have two heaters in the boat, doing their job.

If thats Haslar, our pontoons at Premier were worse than yours and I have to say a bl**dy disgrace, 50mm thick ice, would not have been surprised if somebody ended up in the water

Yup, that's Haslars. They had signs up warning about the pontoons, and they were gritting them more when we were there. Moving about the decks on our boat was a bit iffy.

Summut wrong with using sea water?

Surely grit and snow make salty water....so why not get a bucket out? :)

All this worrying about a grit shortage, we live on a island surrounded by grit.....in water

To be fair sea water on 50mm of ice has no effect and probably makes it worse and the use of grit just transfers onto decks, my solution would be a couple of guys with shovel and broom on the snow preferably before it gets compacted to ice....................just my opinion of course, sure they probably had more important jobs that took priority..........

Do you know how much Haslar are charging for electricity? I've left a dehumidifier and a heater on and I'm wondering if I should start saving up.
I used over 20kwh at the weekend on the fan heater!
