At long last we have snow so my son will be happy when he wakes up , only about 2'' but watch this space........i bet they close the school seeing as we live in the UK!

I was right.........school closed. 2'' of snow!!! Bet people in the Alps etc are laughing their socks off at the Brits.Swmbo just managed 20 odd miles to work so why close the school which most people can walk to?

My daughters School is closed, stupid idea.

I told her they should make the kids that do turn up, clear the snow ready for all the kids that come in tomorrow.

Seeing as we live about 100mtrs from the school, she would be an ideal candidate :-)

For some reason she does not see it my way.

They say its because the staff can't get there so not enough to cover the ammount of kids but if swmbo can make a 20 mile drive at 0630 what excuse do the teachers have? My sister is en route to here from London and they have stacks of snow. Guess day off for me playing in the snow with Ben. Might go skiing behind Cardiff cruisers 4x4 if he is off work!

Cardiffcruiser is off work! - so we're going 4x4 skiing!!!

It's a rostered day off not a snow day!

Had a phone call at 07.45 this morning to say the exam i was to take today at midday has been cancelled cos of snow, all the swotting(about an hour)was to no avail as i will peak at midday today.:D

Cool.........Guess Flying club for lunch then find a little lane for towed 4x4 skiing. Zet is home lunchtime.Dig my skiis out now (if i can open grage doors). Just took the van to the shops and it is well slippy. There was a guy on a quad that couldn't get traction. Swmbo e-mailed and it was the quickest she has ever got to work with no traffic on the road.

Drove into Cardiff early this morning from Cowbridge quite easily, in a Defender I admit, three or four inches of snow but more importantly no cars about. Probably as quick as usual.

BBC don't help as they seem to make a big thing out of every story. This morning there was a reporter in a street in Leeds, I think, saying in her best war zone voice that there had been six inches overnight, a further inch this morning and 12 inches more expected by lunch time. The road behind her had three inches max and you could clearly see where many people had left for work in their cars.

Combination of H&S ( the little brutes might slip, hurt themselves and generate a compo claim) and teachers bunking off. Never use to happen in my youth - teachers were expected to walk in if transport wasnt working.

So really it comes back to our legal system which denies the coincept of an accident replacing it with negligence, and which makes it difficult not to pay teachers who dont turn up for work.

We have 8 inch of snow in Gloucestershire, and over 12 inch at work. So no way am I going out in this, so it work from home day :)

Well with a good cold snapp lets hope we have a good summer.

Sorry but you spelt snapp wrongly , its schnapp. Peach is very tasty!

I don`t know what is going to happen with the schools round me tomorrow, because of the ice. 4x4 skiing sounds brilliant!

Talking of yodeling, my uncle had one about 15 ft long and i'm not joking you would hear it in England from S.Wales coast on a still day like today.
As for skiing don't try it behind a VW transporter van!!!!!
Use Audi Quattro!!!!
Swmbo will kill me but i just got a new set of wheels and 'proper' tyres for the van after being stuck in snow and stuck on the beach last summer!
