A long way from my boat! :(

Hi

Does anyone have any experience with the SMS based boat monitors ( bilge pump monitor, intrusion, bettery voltage, mains connection, gps location etc ). Our boat goes unattended for long periods in Greece and I'm thinking of installing one of these.

That product looks really interesting... I was reading the site with some enthusiasm, and then clicked the prices link..... awaited the pdf to download, only to get a pdf that states, "please contact the MD for pricing info"....

How on earth do these sites expect to generate business with such an approach.... really annoys me.....

Was just about to post almost exactly the same comment. Saw price list, really pisses me off to find that it's not a price list at all.

Why try and hide what it costs, if I phone he'll have to tell me before I make a decision.

I can get an SMS that the pumps are running once or twice a day ( or more ), get on a plane or organise to go and find out why. I can also get an SMS if the pump stops working or becomes blocked. If the mains trips out, the battery voltage starts to die or if the boat is moved more than a few 10's of metres.

If nothing more I can get an SMS once a week that says 'I'm still afloat'!
