Smoothing Sikaflex 291

Anyone able to give advice about smoothing (tooling) the surface of applied Sikaflex 291.

When I seal the edges of a bath, I mask along the edges of bath and tiles, overfill with silicone then smooth it using my finger dipped in diluted washing-up liquid. Is a similar technique possible with Sikaflex, and if so what do I use to prevent it sticking to my fingers?

Im doing this at the moment. I just use my finger with a latex glove. Works a treat.

Bro in law did that as well the other weekend when working on my boat... must be the right way...

I use mineral turpentine, there enzymes in your spit that actually encourage mould to start growing.

Use liquid detergent such as washing up liquid. Can dilute to about 10% ansd it still works. Excess can also be removed with lots of detergent and water providing you clean it off staight away.

Dont use white spirit. and dont overpaint till completely cured or you get a sticky mess. My personal experience!

use industrial wipes or decorating wipes available from all diy screwfix etc wipe fingers on cloth then smooth they will also remove excessive sealant from fingers and where your sealing
