May also be worth checking the intercooler element isn't full of crud. This is the green box between the turbo and the inlet manifold. As the engine is pushing you over the hump, you are probably working it at its hardest and it wil be taking maximum fuel and hence also needs maximum air to maintain the mixture.
You say she is better without the filters so it would indicate an airflow problem. I think HLB mentioned overfuelling (same thing) not enough air for the amount of fuel being injected.
The intercooler is like a radiator inside and the fins can get coated in dirt therefore restricting the airflow.
Just another possibility.
