had 2 years ago a little smokey and small trace of fuel in my exhaust water of my vp 2003. The engine started without any problem and ran smoothly.
It annoyed me at that time and checked everything and was not able to find a problem. In the end I took out the engine and did a partial rebuild. When installed there was nothing changed. So spent some money without solving the problem. I left it as it was cause engine ran ok.
Now this winter I cleaned out my fuel tank so the fuel lines were totally empty. Filled the fueltank and started to bleed the system. It wasn´t working and found the manual fuel feeding pump wasn´t working anymore. Changed the diaphragm and bleeded the system.
Engine started and running smoothly and smoke is also disappeared.
Now I have the feeling the smoke and trace of fuel was coming from a defect feeding pump.
Have no clue the relation of the sympthoms described above with a defect of the feeding pump. Does somebody have an explanation?
many thanks
