I've been pushed out of my lurker status into the light of day by the Shame thread. I've been reading this forum for some time and have been very interested in boating on the Thames. I have a daughter and her family living in Marlow so have visited there twice this year. I'm a boat nut and have found it frustrating to hike the Thames Trail while watching all of the beautiful river craft go past. I'm afraid that I've become a certified Lock Googler in order to get the best view of the craft and chat with the owners. I feel the old addiction starting to take over. I even measured their garage to get an idea about the possibility of a new boat. The Thames looks like a boating dreamland and I hope to see a few of you cruising by during my next visit. Jim

Unfortunately boat hire is rather expensve on the Thames but if you ever feel like a day out the boat yard at Benson hire small boats by the day and they are nice boats too, not your usual tatty stuff.
